Dress Rental for Destination Photoshoots, How It Works – Shipping to the US
The question usually comes in one of two forms. Either someone in the US has found our catalogue online and wants to know if we actually ship across the border — or someone planning a destination shoot wants to know if they can rent a gown without flying it in their suitcase. The answer to both is yes and the process is simpler than most people expect. We’ve shipped gowns to couples for shoots in New York, California, Florida and pretty much everywhere in between. The dress arrives ready to wear. The return label is already in the box. Here’s exactly how it works.
Why US Couples Choose to Rent From Us
It starts with the catalogue. There genuinely isn’t another rental service in North America doing what we do — 200+ custom-designed long-train gowns, all made in Canada, all built specifically for photography. Not for weddings, not for galas — for what happens in front of a camera when fabric catches light and moves. Every gown was designed with the shoot in mind: the train length, the fabric weight, the way each silhouette reads from 20 feet away versus up close. That specificity is hard to find and US clients who land on our Instagram or our catalogue quickly understand why people rent from Bradford, Ontario for a shoot in Austin or Miami.
The second reason is access. Dress rental options in the US tend to skew toward formal event wear — gowns designed to stand still, look elegant at dinner and photograph reasonably well on the side. Long-train photography gowns, designed specifically for movement and outdoor shoots, are a much smaller category. When clients find us and see what a proper train in motion looks like in a photo, the border stops feeling like an obstacle.
Pricing for US rentals is straightforward — you can review all rates and deposit details on our pricing & fees page. Pre-paid return shipping is included — you don’t pay extra for the return. Cleaning is always included. All major credit cards are accepted for US rentals.

The Shipping Process, Step by Step
Renting a gown you can’t try on first from another country sounds like a lot to take on. But the process is designed to be as low-friction as possible and we’ve worked out the details over hundreds of international shipments. Here’s how it actually goes:
Step one – Browse and request. Go through the catalogue online — filter by colour, style, neckline or type. When you’ve found something you love, submit the rental request form with your dress choice, shoot dates and contact details.
Step two – Confirmation within 24 hours. We review the request, check availability for your dates and confirm. If your first choice isn’t available, we’ll suggest alternatives based on what you liked about the original pick.
Step three – Payment and deposit. Once confirmed, you pay the rental fee and the refundable damage deposit. All major credit cards are accepted.
Step four – The gown ships to your door. The dress is packed carefully and shipped to your US address, arriving ready to wear — including the pre-paid return shipping label already in the box.
Step five – Wear it, shoot it. That’s the whole point.
Step six – Return it. After your shoot, pack the gown back in the box it arrived in, attach the pre-paid label and drop it at the carrier location. The deposit is refunded once the gown arrives back and is inspected.
One thing worth knowing: customs fees are included in the rental price as long as the return instructions are followed correctly. If the return label isn’t used or the gown is shipped back through a different method, customs fees on the return become the client’s responsibility. Follow the instructions in the box and it’s all covered.

What Destination Shoot Couples Should Know About Timing
This is the part people underestimate most. Shipping takes time — particularly cross-border. We always recommend requesting your rental at least two weeks before your shoot date to give enough buffer for shipping, any customs processing and the possibility of courier delays. If your shoot is time-sensitive and you’re cutting it close, reach out directly via WhatsApp before submitting the form — we can give you an honest read on whether the timeline is workable.
The earlier you book, the smoother everything goes. For destination shoots specifically — a shoot in New York followed by a flight somewhere two days later, for example — plan the return shipping around your travel schedule, not the other way around. Late returns result in a daily late fee and potential withholding of the deposit. Most clients who plan ahead don’t run into any issues at all.
What About the Fitting? Can You Choose Without Trying On?
For US clients, yes — and it works better than you’d expect. The catalogue is detailed enough that most clients find something they’re confident about before they ever reach out. Photos show each gown from multiple angles, in motion and at rest and with enough detail to get a genuine sense of the fabric and silhouette.
We also respond personally to every rental inquiry — if you have questions about how a specific gown moves, what it looks like in a particular light or how it’s worked in similar shoot settings, ask. You’ll get a straight answer rather than a sales pitch.
On sizing: every gown has an adjustable corset back and stretch seams, which means they fit a wide range of bodies without any tailoring. Include your measurements in the rental request and we’ll select the right size for you. First-time rental anxiety about sizing is completely understandable — and almost always unnecessary.

Popular US Shoot Settings Our Gowns Have Traveled To
Long-train gowns and destination shoots are a natural match. A few settings that come up most often from US clients:
- New York City — rooftops, Central Park, industrial Brooklyn. Urban contrast with a long train is genuinely striking.
- California coast — Big Sur, Malibu, the Sonoma hills. These landscapes were made for a train in motion.
- The American Southwest — red rock formations, open desert, Joshua Tree. The earthy colour palette of the landscape pairs beautifully with jewel tones and warm neutrals.
- Pacific Northwest — dense forests, misty coastlines and the kind of light that makes everything look like a painting.
The gown travels. The shoot happens. The return label gets used. And the deposit comes back.
